The demand for Nvidia's ultra-expensive, high-performance computing H100 GPU is becoming the "top gossip" of Silicon Valley, as it's essential for large language model (LLM) training, and the capacity is reportedly running out.

Andrej Karpathy, former AI director at Tesla, now at OpenAI, has brought attention to this issue, and Microsoft's annual report emphasized GPUs as a "critical raw material" for its cloud business.

Speculations are circulating about the demand for H100s among major tech companies, suggesting that the GPU shortage could persist until the end of 2024 at the very least.

AudioCraft - Meta’s Open Source answer for text to music (🔗 link)

Meta has launched a powerful open-source AI solution called AudioCraft, enabling users to create music from text prompts, comprising three bundles: AudioGen, EnCodec, and MusicGen.

In response to concerns about copyrighted materials, Meta stated that they built MusicGen using only company-owned and specifically licensed music.

This release comes amid growing apprehensions in the entertainment industry over copyright violations and fears about AI's impact, illustrated by the current actors and writers strike in Hollywood and a lawsuit from comedian Sarah Silverman regarding ChatGPT's use of copyrighted content.

Search is a major AI use case among business users that we survey.

Because Chat GPT is not up to date, many users are using Google Bard and Microsoft Bing as there ‘go-to’ AI search tool to retrieve the most current information on the web.

There is another search tool, called Perplexity.ai that has flown under the radar and is easy to use.

It comes as a free version and has a co-pilot feature for $20 per months that allows you to have a follow up dialogue with the chat bot to enhance your search.

Here are some of its key features that we like:

We’ve been playing around with the pro version and find it to be a worthy alternative to Bing or Bard and a good companion to have alongside ChatGPT.
