 FOR THE NERDS
What is all the buzz about OpenAI’s Code Interpreter and how can you use it.

Imagine you have a computer that can understand and follow your instructions. You can ask it to do things like add numbers, write letters, or even draw pictures.

But what if you could also ask it to run code?

That's what OpenAI's Code Interpreter does. It lets you write code in a variety of languages, and then the computer will run that code for you.

So why is this important?

Well, code can be used to do a lot of things. You could use it to automate tasks, create new tools, or even build entire websites. And now, with OpenAI's Code Interpreter, you can do all of this without having to be a programmer yourself.

Here are some specific ways you could use OpenAI's Code Interpreter in your business life:

  1. You could use it to automate tasks that are currently done manually. This could save you time and money, and it could also help you to improve the accuracy and efficiency of your business.

  2. You could use it to create new tools that can help you to be more productive. For example, you could create a tool that helps you to analyze data, or a tool that helps you to create presentations.

  3. You could use it to build new websites or web applications. This could help you to reach a wider audience, or it could help you to improve the functionality of your website.

This is just the beginning of how no-programmers will start to use tools like this to expand there ability to write simple scripts and applications that can dramtically scale their businesses.

Use Case: ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter and ‘Talk to your data’

ChatGPT's new Code Interpreter feature allows you to generate and run code right in the conversation. This opens up a new possibilities, for example, interacting with your data.

Upload a CSV file of your sales data and ask ChatGPT the following:

  • “Explain the data set to me in plain English.”

  • “Find trends in the data and explain them to me”.

  • “Predict future values based on historical data.”

  • “Find my top customers who are buying Product X”

  • “Can you suggest how we can clean the data? Then implement the cleaning approach you choose and give me an updated CSV for me to download”

  • “Generate visuals (all kinds of graphs) from the data.”

Code Interpreter is still under development, but with a little back-and-forth, you can get much more done with less and let ChatGPT run Python code for you through conversation.

To try this out for yourself, with the paid version of ChatGPT here is how you can set up Code Interpreter:

1. Log into ChatGPT and go ‘Settings’
2. Choose ‘Beta Features’
3. Toggle on Code Interpreter

Start uploading your data and give it a spin!

P.S. Code Interpreter is not a replacement for a professional data scientist. However, it can be a powerful tool for anyone who wants to get insights from their data.

P.S.S. Be careful about uploading any data files that you don’t want to be out in the public domain. Only test Code Interpreter with data sets that ARE NOT private and proprietary.

Thats a wrap!
